Stop moving my cheese, Facebook!
–Update November 4, 2012– Facebook has just rolled out a new feature called “Get Notifications” to help people stay connected to businesses and pages. It may not be immediately available to everyone, but I tested it and it worked for me. Go to www.facebook.com/adodsons and hover over the “Liked” button. You’ll see the option to select “Get Notifications.” Perhaps, just perhaps, you won’t miss another Steal A Deal again! To read more about this new roll out, read the article at Inside Facebook.
Some of you have noticed A. Dodson’s isn’t always showing in your News Feed. Facebook recently made some changes (imagine that!) and the algorithm they use to decide which posts show in your News Feed may be a little wonky right now. Or maybe it’s always been wonky but just in some other way.
The fact is, Facebook ultimately controls what shows in your News Feed. Even if you’ve Liked a page, Subscribed to the page, made sure the page is Showing In News Feed… there’s still no guarantee. The more you engage with a page by liking their posts and commenting on photos and whatnot, the greater the odds of that page showing in your News Feed. But again, Facebook is driving this motor boat.
So here’s our best advice.
Make a note that the Steal A Deals always happen at noon on Tuesdays and Fridays. Don’t solely rely on your News Feed. Instead, come to our page at noon on Tuesdays and Fridays and refresh the page frequently so you see exactly what’s going on.
For that matter, come to our page regularly. And while you’re there if you see something you like, go ahead and click the “Like” button. The more Facebook knows you like us, the more likely we’ll show up.
One last thing. To ensure you don’t miss the big announcements, make sure to join our Email List. We won’t blow up your Inbox or push the boundaries of good email etiquette. And, from time to time, you just might find some special “treats” in your Inbox that you don’t find in your News Feed! Click here to sign up!
