Expanding: The Good Kind

It’s never fun to think about expanding when you’re right on the brink of bathing suit season. Thank goodness we’re not talking about expanding around the middle. Shew!

No, instead we’re looking for a part-time person to join our expanding team. Must be someone who’s willing to work hard, play hard and understand a Starbucks impulse when it hits (and it hits pretty regularly).

Two to three days per week including one or two Saturdays each month.

Figure Flatter Makeover: Tara

Tara is typically in yoga attire on her way to workout, back from a workout, or rushing around L.A. on her way to an audition. Tara is, in a nutshell, ENERGETIC! We all have problem areas when it comes to dressing, and for Tara, it’s her waist. In an effort to minimize her midsection, she opts for tops that are loose and don’t cling. But the “boxy’ look actually makes you look bigger than you are, so I gave her some tips for feeling more confident in her own skin. Solution: ditch the shapeless tops and go for A-line dresses that narrow right above her waist…

Tara’s Makeover

She was at first afraid to try this dress with the fear that it wouldn’t flatter her midsection, but look how adorable it turned out to be! You don’t have to have a six pack to show off your waist, and you can give yourself an hourglass figure just by branching out…

This dress was much more form fitting than she would have gravitated towards, but the flattering cross-over folds at the waist are forgiving and flattering!

Lesson of the day: even when you don’t like your waist, belts can be your best friend!

We’ve seen it for awhile now, and maybe you’re “over it.” But chevron has, after all, been around for most of the last century and isn’t going out of style any time soon! We see chevron like stripes or polka dots: simply timeless! We know, we know… You certainly don’t want to overdo it. But it’s one of those styles you can wear hundreds of ways and always look fashion forward! Take a look at these adorable outfits from Classic and Bubbly blog!

Boots and a jean vest give chevron a new flare and keep your outfit cute and casual. (Tip: find a jean jacket at a thrift shop and cut off the sleeves right before the seam! Washing and drying in the machine will make the raw edge look totally vintage-edgy!)
