We’re Collecting School Supplies for Suffolk Children
Remember the feeling of going back to school with fresh notebooks unblemished by the scars of assignments and homework? Remember the satisfaction of hearing that *snap* of your prized Strawberry Shortcake Trapper Keeper? In case you’ve forgotten, it felt something like the glory of zipping up your coveted fall boots now. Ahhhh, yes!
For many students right here in Hampton Roads, their family isn’t able to send them back to school with all the items on their school supply list. Some kids start their first day of school with an empty backpack. Or no backpack at all.
That’s why every year A. Dodson’s partners with our amazing customers to collect school supplies. We have relationships with several school counselors who know all too well which students need our help.
Now through the end of August, please consider picking up a few extra school supplies for a child. Drop them off at A. Dodson’s and we’ll be sure the supplies are delivered to the school counselors. If you deliver outside of our store hours (M-Sat 10a-5p) you can leave them on our front porch.
In addition to the typical school supplies like notebooks, pencils and markers please consider any extra clothes your child may have outgrown. From time to time a child needs a change of clothes during the school day or a counselor may recognize that a child needs some extra outfits in their closet. We’re not talking about those fall boots here, maybe just some t-shirts and shorts?
